Meet the Team Night A Great Success!!

Fergus, Ont – The weather stayed at bay just long enough for the Whaler’s first team event, Meet the Team, to go off with out a hitch last Thursday evening.

“It was a great turn out! Each day the community seems to rally behind us a little more, and we are starting to feel the love” Alternate Governor Ryan Duck said after the event. “It’s going to take the communities help to make this dream a successful reality, and tonight we saw that there are lots of people on board, and now we can’t wait to get going.

People were already in the mezzanine 10 minutes before the event started, waiting for the unveil of the new team home and away jerseys. Club President and Owner, Jason Baier, arrived with family sporting the new look blue jersey, while his fiance, Tammy, entered wearing the new white threads. Both received many positive reviews through out the evening.

Throughout the course of the night, Jason took the opportunity to explain how the team came about, the process it’s taken so far, and plans for the upcoming season. He welcomed all staff up to join him for a quick hello, and took questions from supporters before mingling amongst the crowd. There was a mixture of fans excited that junior hockey is finally back, businesses looking to support the club, folks interested in volunteering, perspective players who are interested in being Whalers, and some members of the local media who took part in the evening.

It was also the first chance to thank some of our team sponsors who have come on board already. Todd Cooper of Coop’s Drywall and Darren of 519 Sports Online were both on hand and received their own customized Fergus Whalers jerseys!

“We cannot thank everyone enough for their support through these past few months. In less than 4 months, we will be on ice for our Inaugural team skate, and from there the time will just fly until we are competing each week in the Pollock Division!”
