Fergus, On – It’s down to games 40, 41 and 42.
The Whalers finish up a homestand this weekend, as the team welcomes first place Hanover on Friday night, and the Mitchell Hawks, their first round opponent, on Sunday afternoon.
Seemingly feeling like it started yesterday, the season has flown by and the Whalers see themselves finishing 3rd in the Pollock Division. Aforementioned above, the Whalers will play the Mitchell Hawks in the first round, with that series kicking off on February 22 at the West Perth Community Centre.
Friday, the team will also host their 2nd Annual Mental Health Night when they welcome the Barons to the CW Sportsplex. With different initiatives over the course of last season, including their goal and win allotments, the team donated north of a thousand dollars to the Get In Touch for Hutch organization. This season, in addition to Get in Touch with Hutch, the Whalers have also partnered with CS8, and will make a donation to their outdoor memorial arena project, in memory of Carter Schoonderwoerd. Puck drop for the game is 8:00pm!
On Sunday, the boys welcome the Hawks, in a preview of the first round. The team will be hosting a family fun day, and will have many surprises in order for fans! A&W and the Great Canadian Root Bear will be on hand, greeting children, and giving out coffee and free root beer coupons. We have some giveaways planned, and expect a thrilling game! The game will get underway at 3:00pm.
Finally, on Monday, the boys will head north to Wingham to take on the Ironmen for a Family Day holiday clash. Wingham currently sits 5th in the standings, four points behind their first round match up, the Kincardine Bulldogs.
All home action will be broadcasted live on NBC Sports Engine Play!
