2nd Annual Teddy Bear Toss and Toy Drive (1)
Fergus, Ontario – The Whalers are poised to hold their 2nd Annual Teddy Bear Toss and Toy Drive this Sunday.
The annual event, which saw last years toy donation total reach 175, has been widely anticipated in the community takes place at 3:00pm when the Whalers host the Kincardine Bulldogs.
Fans who bring a teddy bear will be invited to toss them on the ice after the Whalers score their first goal. The Centre Wellington U10B players will be on hand with collection, with all proceeds being donated to local initiatives in the Centre Wellington community. All fans participating will be given a ticket upon entry which will enter them into a raffle for Guelph Storm tickets.
“We had such a positive outpouring of support with our first event last season. Over 175 toys and teddy bears went to 3 great programs, the Groves Hub Youth Program, the Rural Women’s Shelter Program, and the Reliable Ford Lions Toy Drive. We are looking to build on that, and my personal goal would be to see 250 items donated this year” said Alternate Governor Ryan Duck.
“Theres so many people facing financial struggles these days, and it’s important to me that all kids have a great Christmas, no matter of the circumstances… we hope we can be a small part of that”
The game will feature a few fun extras. O&V Tasting Room will be on hand handing out samples, and offering Christmas gift boxes for purchase. The Great Root Bear, A&W Canada’s Mascot, will also join in the festivities, meeting and greeting with the local kids. There will be giveaways, and much much more.
