Fergus, Ontario – Bo Brimmell was the hero in Game 1.
A beautiful pass right into the slot set the winger up perfectly to beat Walkerton goalie Vance Meyer late in the 3rd period, as the Whalers took the 3-2 lead in the game, and held on for a 1-0 series lead.
Tuesday’s game, which started at 8:45pm, was the first playoff game in Whaler’s history. It was a back and fourth game, and now doubt an excellent preview to what the series will be like. Goaltender Bradley Boville was excellent in net, turning away 26 of 28 Capital shots.
The Whalers travel to Walkerton for game 2 on Friday night. The team then returns home to Fergus on Sunday March 3rd for Game 3 at 3:00pm. The first 100 fans will receive Fergus Whalers Playoff Rally Towels.
