J.J. Lavigne becomes the 1st Official Whaler!

FERGUS, ONT – The Fergus Whalers are very proud to announce that we have completed our first team transaction.

We have acquired J.J. Lavigne from the Walkerton Capitals.  J.J., who is a Fergus native, became the first official Whaler as he signed to a Standard Player Agreement for the 2023-2024 season.

J.J. had an outstanding season last year with the Walkerton Capitals, and was voted the leagues “Most Sportsmanlike Player,” scoring 22 points and only accumulating 8 penalty minutes over the course of 34 games last season.

During the hockey off season, J.J. is a member of the Elora Mohawks Jr. B lacrosse program.

“We are very pleased that we could announce our first player signing with a kid like J.J.  When we first started meeting people, and hearing eligible names that could become potential Whalers, J.J’s was right at the top of everyone’s lists.  He was definitely apart of Walkerton’s long term plans, so we thank James and Jordan (Walkerton’s Director of Hockey and General Manager) for working with us, and allowing J.J. to come home and play in his hometown”

The Whalers Rookie Camp starts this weekend in Waterloo at Rim Park on Friday Night at 5:30pm.  Spectators are welcome!
