Teddy Bear Toss a great success as Whalers move into tie in standings with Ironmen!

Fergus, Ontario – Leading up to the Christmas break, the Fergus Whalers looked like a different hockey club.  The team, who sat in 7th place for much of the first half has surged in the standings, getting points in 8 of the past 10 games!

Now, with 25 points, and tied with the Wingham Ironmen, the Whalers have shown they can run with the top dogs of the Pollock Division and head into the holidays hot.

On Sunday, December 17th, we hosted our 1st Annual Teddy Bear Toss and Toy Drive for the Centre Wellington community and were overwhelmed with the support we received.

Bo Brimmell set the bears free 36 seconds into the 3rd period against Mount Forest, with over 200 reigning down on the ice for collection.  Over 50 toys were collected at the front gate, bringing the total of items donated to over 250.

Dan Reeves and Ryan Duck complete toy drive donations at the Groves Hub Fergus & the Rural Woman’s Support Program, Fergus!

The Fergus Lions/Reliable Ford Toy Drive, The Groves Hub Fergus and the Rural Woman’s Support Program of Fergus were all benefactors of the drive!  Items have gone to good use, and supported less fortunate families in need in our community.

The boys return from the break on January 6th, when we take on the Goderich Flyers on the road at 8:00pm.  Sunday, January 7th is our first home action of 2024, as the Walkerton Capitals roll into town for a 3pm match up at the CW Sportsplex.
