Stratford, Ontario – After an exciting weekend in Waterloo for the teams Inaugural Rookie Camp, the Whalers have made a splash in the market and signed a pair of players from the Stratford Minor Hockey system.
Joining the Whalers for the 2023-2024 season on Standard Player Agreements are 2005 born forward Wes Duiker, and 2006 born forward Mark Pyzowski.
“Both Mark and Wes excelled at our camp, and we understood there was significant interest amongst Junior teams in the area for their services. The boys played together last season, and showed how special they can be together as linemates. Not only good hockey players, Mark and Wes are both great kids, one of the biggest qualities we are looking for in future Whalers. We are very excited to have these young kids on our roster and look forward to developing them through out their respective junior careers” Alternate Governor Ryan Duck said when speaking to 519 Sports about the signing.
Mark and Wes were teammates for the U18 Stratford Jr. Warriors program, and Mark represented his high school hockey team this past season, winning the OFSAA A/AA Gold Medal in a thrilling come from behind win in St. Catherines back in March.
