Fergus, Ont – It was about more than just hockey this weekend for the Whalers, as they played a rare two game weekend homestand against the Hanover Barons on Friday, and the Goderich Flyers on Sunday.
Friday was a special night as the team hosted both the CW Fusion U9 red team as well as the Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce to the CW Sportsplex. The U9’s treated the spectators to an exciting intermission showcase, showing the future talent of the Fergus Whalers!
The Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce also hosted an event, welcoming members of the Chamber to the game. There was a great turn out, and members had the chance to network amongst one another.
After getting out to an early lead, the Whalers fell behind and the Barons took over, cruising to an 8-3 win, continuing to lead the Pollock Division.
Saturday, the team hosted a bonding event in Stratford at Pinnacle Fieldhouse Training Academy. The boys took part in pickleball, touch football, batting cages and mini stick game for ultimate supremacy, and enjoyed a nice team meal together, as we head into the final month of the regular season, and into the grind of playoffs.
Sunday, we were back home for a 3pm match up with the Goderich Flyers. The team was firing on all cylinders, and got out to an early lead. A hat trick and assist by defencemen JJ Lavigne propelled the team to 7-1 victory to close out the weekend, and remain in the 4th spot of the Pollock Division.
The boys next action is this weekend when we host the Mount Forest Patriots on Sunday at 3pm est.
